  1. 1. Name three ways using color enhances the chromatic metamorphosis from sequence to sequence?

Color is in the letter “D” to give it a focal point in the image. Green is used in one of the slides to symbolize nature / trees.
In the last slide, the color blue is used. It almost looks at a energy source (sunburst) radiating out.

    2. What type of balance is used in the metamorphosis and what is the point of focus? Does either change between the steps or do they remain the same throughout the steps? Be specific in answers.
The balance in this composition was used very effectively. It seems like symmetrical balance was used. The balance changes throughout the sequence as the letter disappears to form a Japanese Character. The image also changes as the objects in the images seem to fade into a different kind of images. The point of focus in the beginning is the Letter. At the end is seems to change a little bit, but not much, the focus is still in the center, but there are more to look at.

  3. Question 2 – Debbie

What type of balance is used in the metamorphosis and what is the point of focus? Does either change between the steps or do they remain the same throughout the steps? Be specific in answers.

The focus in all of the images except image F was the letter “D.” The letter was always in the very middle of the image, so the image was always balanced. In image F, where the letter “D” was not the focal point, the squares on either side of the image created balance.

  4. 5. What do you think of the quality of the design and composition? Is there enough contrast between each of the seven images to get a true feeling of chromatic metamorphosis, explain? If not also explain?

    Debbie,

As always, the quality of your design and composition is beautiful and well executed. I always look forward to seeing your pieces. Each of your work is never lacking originality; it’s always a pleasure to view your work and I’m never disappointed. There is definitely enough contrast between the seven images to allow a viewer to assume that there is a feeling of metamorphosis. Your project clearly has a true feeling of chromatic metamorphosis. You start from a sort of beige color and transform into a very vibrant blue-ish nature scene; very aesthetically pleasing to the eyes. Each image has its own color and is distinct from one another. You take advantage of not only color, but also balance and textures; it works very well with your project. I thought it was quite clever how you had morphed from, as your description says, “a path from Celtic to Japanese;” it’s definitely noticeable. The overall quality of your design/composition was very impressive; very detailed. I liked how the pattern/pillars move throughout the transformation; it really adds to the design of the images. Essentially (to me) I believe each image is different and beautiful on its own. I really liked the fact that you had the letter ‘D’ still subtly present and viewable in your final image; you incorporated it into your design very well. Excellent job, Debbie!
